We loved our last GE refrigerator. This new one is a piece of junk. The rubber moldings don™€™t stay in place. The plastic on the drawers has already broken. The plastic cover on the water and ice dispenser drain doesn™€™t fit and covers the catch bowl. This is embarrassing engineering. I can™€™t imagine how poorly the internals must be.

Why can't it be leveled?!!!

So far mediocre. It is not even possible to level the side-by-side refrigerator front-to-rear! (Model GZS22xxxxx.) Only the front rollers can be adjusted up and down, but even with them completely down, the lower front protrudes 1 1/4" further out than the top! This model doesn't have adjustable rear wheels. our floor is level as is our cabinetry. The unit works well and for that I am pleased. The LED lighting is great. There is more interior space than our 2004 36" wide model had.

We bought this fridge in 2020 which I realize is now 6 years old, but during that time span I've had to fix it numerous times. Always the defrost system in the freezer. First the temperature sensor, then it worked great for a year until the heating element went out, and later the thermostat. Every single time I have to move all the stuff into my ugly, decades old garage freezer that can still actually freeze stuff somehow while I work on my awful stupid new freezer. I only wish I lived closer to a cliff so I could push it over the edge. Update: the dishwasher we bought as part of the same set just started with an error H20 immediately as the cycle starts. I've never been this disappointed with appliances in my life. Learn from my mistake and spend the money on a more reputable brand like Bosch or Kitchen Aid

Great side by side refrigerator. It's fantastic that it has a door alarm, so we can be sure that they aren't left open for too long, which happens often in my house. Also, the option of different buttons for ice and water, thus avoiding confusion. And the interior illumination is excellent, you really can see everything inside and looks great.

It looks pretty and functions nice. I like the look and finish and the price was good. The external ice was a mandatory feature and works well although water temp much lower than old fridge. The major problem is that the refrigerator door isn't designed to open wide enough to open the drawers or get shelves out to adjust. I immediately called the installer and they showed how to basically use 2 people to achieve a result. Not a good design. Also the bottom freezer drawer and refrigerator drawers are 1/2 depth. Very deceiving. I'm limited in choices due to space so consider this model acceptable but disappointing.

My one-star rating addresses freezer shelves ONLY. I can't figure out who would've designed shelves with such a large opening between the bottom of the shelf and the clear plastic that's supposed to hold food from falling out. There's about a 2" gap and most of my frozen food falls out! I know cost cutting was an issue, but common sense few out the window in the design engineering department on this model!

We became tired of bending down and looking deep into our old refrigerator for food that we could not locate LOL. We also love that there is plenty of lighting inside including on the freezer side. The dispenser is working well as this is our first refrigerator with a dispenser. The stainless steel finish is so sharp looking in our newly-remodeled kitchen.

This GE refrigerator cools and freezes fine. I find the capacity lacking, but I guess I should have looked for a bigger counter depth fridge. My problem with the product is the ice maker. It's terrible. It makes ice fine. The problem with it is that it does not shut down as the drawer becomes full. When you pull the drawer, ice spills throughout the freezer. When you put the drawer back in, the mechanical arm underneath does automatically slide into the mating receptacle and you must stick your hand underneath the drawer and physically move the arm until it slides into place. Foreign engineering and manufacturing sucks. Bring this back to America.

Watch out for the GE fridges, as I think they have some design flaw with the ice and water distribution module. There is an inlet screen that clogs easily (not self flushing) and since none of us are on distilled water I would avoid GE. GE is not even trying to make it right with all the break-downs. My Home Depot bought 2025 GE fridge lasted ninety days before breaking down. Their warranty is basically avoid, deny, and defend. Surprising as the previous GE which I should have kept and repaired lasted 17 years and the new one croaked after 90 days. Buyer Bware.

We purchased this refrigerator with a Lowes Protection Plan 3 years ago as the manufacturer warranty is only one year. Had we known this brand was susceptible to compressor issues we would've purchased another brand. Our compressor has been going on and off for 3-4 weeks. We've contacted Lowe's Protection for coverage and the process has been awful. We've had 4 visits from providers, and countless phone calls to the protection plan with no resolve. The provider that diagnosed our compressor doesn't service it. While the others sent leave because the fridge "appears to be working"; despite evidence that the temperature of the fridge is exceeding 45 degrees. Each phone call with the protection plan ends with needing to wait another 2-3 business days for resolution. Don't purchase this fridge, and don't purchase a Lowe's Protection Plan. It's not worth the money or headache.

I HATE IT! I had trouble removing the shelves because the door seemed to be aligned too far to the left, so they couldn't be removed without hitting the door. Apparently, you must apply pressure on the door to get it PAST its normal range to remove them. It's not easy to get a shelf out while holding a door. When removing them, they WILL scratch your door. IT CANNOT BE PREVENTED. Imagine damage to an appliance you have owned for less than a week! The ice maker makes a mess inside the freezer. And three shelves in the fridge just isn't enough for me.

So far the refrigerator works, as in, it keeps things cold and frozen. Looks pretty good. Along the top of the fresh food side the plastic covering is poorly fitted leaving a gap along the top and sides. The water dispenser post dispensing drip is a thing. Also, in my unit the top of the base of the water dispenser has fake slats - the water that drips doesn't go into the dish below this base unit, although the dish is there, because the top is completely closed leaving no way for the water to go into the dish. The water flow from the dispenser is slow. My refrigerator came brand new from Costco. The plastic edge of one glass shelf is dented. I sent pictures taken minutes after the Costco people delivered the unit. GE is dragging their feet. I guess unless you're buying the German upscale competing product, you can expect this kind of thing with the "lesser" brands. It is a refrigerator for the common people, and the common people don't deserve a well-crafted appliance, but their warranty claims are scrutinized in a manner that would make the health insurance industry envious. P.S. GE, don't bother with a response saying "we're sorry...please let us know how we can help...whatever" response. I shouldn't have to publickly shame you to get appropriate service or a refrigerator that was made with a little care.

Installation problems and downscaled features

Refrigerator didn't have the space that we thought with both refrigerator or freezer compartments. The refrigerator didn't have the same features of our older refrigerator that we needed to replace-- notably the measuring feature of the amount of water being dispensed. When delivered, the process and time allocated to the two technicians was obviously short (in and out of the house in about 10-15 minutes max because of the number of installations they were assigned that day(16). When they left the refrigerator still had packing material inside we had to remove and the refrigerator was not level. It took two added follow up complaint calls to Costco to get the refrigerator properly leveled..

Just got it installed. The delivery and installation was great. The guys were wonderful. I haven't had a chance to use the refrigerator yet so I can't give a review based on the function of the refrigerator. I can say that water is leaking from the water feature and I hope that's because it's new and will work itself out. Otherwise it can be a big problem if it continues and overflows onto the floor. A lot of the inside is cheaper plastic and not as strong as our older GE that we replaced. Time will tell.

Today. 12-04-2025 my GE fridge was delivered at the time I was told it would be delivered. Even much sooner than I thought! The delivery guys were awesome! Professional, courteous, and efficient! They took their time to answer my questions. Lowes has done an excellent job in all aspects. From the store reps to the delivery guys it has been a very pleasant experience. ( the sales rep at Lowes suggested a counter depth fridge because it would be a better fit for the space in the kitchen where it is encased by cabinets. It slid into position with no problem and looks great. I now have more space between my fridge and my kitchen island. I am extremely pleased.

The first two refrigators that were delivered had one of the back wheels bent in, the third refrigator had dents on both doors. GE quality control is really bad. I will never buy a GE refrigator again.

Leaking refrigerator

We purchased this refrigerator less than a month ago from Costco and within a week the the freezer had water pooling in the bottom and freezing. This has happened again a week after the first incedence. We called Costco and they are replacing the refrigerator which is nice, but very disappointed so far. We hope the replacement is better.

Load Noises All Day

Noisiest Refrigerator I've ever owned... It moans up and down all day long. When in Defrost mode (I'm assuming that's what it's doing) it makes another sound like it's dying. Then the Filter goes out after 6 months and that's another $50. Even the door is short one shelf they don't include. Refrigerator really is nice but with the noise issues have me wondering if I need to get an Extended Warranty !

RUST and Fingerprint resistant coating falling off

Be aware that GE provides a 1 week warranty on "surface defects". Six months after my purchase, the fingerprint resistance coating has failed on the freezer side. It comes off when I clean using products recommended in the Operating Manual. There are also rust spots. When I try to clean the rust spots per the Operating Manual instructions, more of the coating comes off. My six month old refrigerator looks 15+ years old. I am told Quality Product Engineers are reviewing photos of my freezer door. They have provided no information as to how I am supposed to clean my refrigerator in the mean time. Nor have they provided a timeframe when I will receive a response.

I wish I'd seen this in person before buying. I don't particularly like the curved front. The style doesn't look good in my kitchen and seems to reduce storage capacity. Although the dimensions are supposedly the same as my last refrigerator, I seem to have less useable space. Not really impressed so far, but it's working fine.

This refrigerator is the perfect size for my kitchen and my use. The water and ice in the door are a new feature for me. My last refrigerator was over 25 years old and did not have this. It is nice to always have ice ready and not have to fill ice cube trays that usually would spill as I put them in the freezer. Being a side-by-side unit, it is easier to see just what I have in the freezer without having to move items around or forget what is in there in the back or under other items. I can control the temperature of either side without having to even open the doors.

No lights

The freezer lights do not light and the technician said they cannot be fixed in the field and must be replaced. Also, the ice maker makes ice cubes very slowly, 2 hours per batch.

A housewarming gift from my Mom

This was a housewarming gift and I love the number of shelves on the refrigerator side; however the freezer side is a bit small. The shelves on the door were a little difficult to pop in but I made it work after breaking one. I love the water and ice dispenser although I would take more space over the dispenser.

Reduced Capacity & No Manual

Our 18 year old GE 25 cf Side-by-Side Refrigerator died so we had to buy a new one. The new 25 cf GE Side-by-Side won't fit our cabinets and kitchen layout, so we bought the 21.8 cf Side-by-Side. The new 21.8 cf refrigerator has almost exactly the same outside dimensions (an inch or two shorter), but obviously less capacity. The new machine is louder that our 25 cf machine. Also, it is ridiculous and unacceptable that GE does not provide a hardcopy Owner's Manual, which I am told by "GE Cares" is only available online. So when we sell the house, we cannot provide a manual to the new owner.
