In less than 4 years it stopped working. Repair person ($100) told me it could not be fixed. I had to throw it away... This after I had just replaced a 4 year old Kitchen Aid Microwave because it cost too much to repair also after $100 and prior to having a 2nd trip by the repair people. I find two appliances I have to throw away the same week, after $200 in repairs, both less than 4 years old, unacceptable. Whirlpool seems to think that is normal good product performance. They could not care less. So, my advice, is buy the cheapest unit that works for you and put $ into extended warranties. Buying a "name brand", at least the Whirlpool family of brands, has no value whatsoever. The value is in the warranty and how a company stands behind its products, and Whirlpool seems not to be standing at all!

The door seal is not very strong so when you close it you have to make sure it does not open up and we just purchased this.

We purchased this wine refrigerator for our recently built home. What a disappointment, especially compared to the two GE wine coolers we had at our previous home, which we had to leave, because the new owners wanted them. First, the Whirlpool does not have full extension drawers. Therefore, you cannot see what bottles you have in the back row, without pulling the front row bottles out of the cooler. Second, many chardonnay bottles will not even fit on the rack. Never had that problem with the GE cooler. Third, you have to make absolutely sure you have the door open all the way, otherwise when you try to pull a rack out, it gets caught on the door gasket, which will eventually tear the gasket. The day we moved in and started putting bottles in, we called the dealer, and told them we wanted to exchange it. Unfortunately, the dealer told us the Whirlpool rep would not allow us to return it, because it was not "defective", was in good working order, etc. We hope to be able to sell it, most likely at a significant loss, and purchase a different brand.

Works well, looks nice. However, the rack spacing is tight. A lot of wine bottles won't fit, as the outer diameter exceeds the rack spacing.

I bought this and loved it for about 12 months - then it just stopped cooling - just after the warranty ended. I am very disappointed that Whirlpool only stands behind this product for a year - It was an expensive purchase to only have work for a short time - I also now have read that other people have had the same problem with theirs. Would not recommend or buy again -

Have just had this wine cooler for 9 days but so far I am very happy with it. Great look, holds temp well, cooled quickly, fairly quiet operation. Shelves catch the door gasket when you pull them out unless the door can be opened more than 90 degrees. Larger bottles a little tight but fit fine.

We bought this wine storage unit when we built a new home in August 2016. Unit worked well for about 15 months and then simply stopped cooling. We are now having to spend to replace it. We have owned several similar units that lasted 7 and 12 years respectively...shameful that whirlpool would settle for substandard production.

Bought a home with this product installed and liked the idea. But every time it runs, around every 20 minutes or so, it is extremely loud. It is so loud, we can't here the TV over it. Loudest appliance we've ever owned by far. Also, half of the bottles of wine we buy are too wide to fit on the shelves and we end up storing them in the pantry. So disappointed in this product.

We were looking for a wine cooler in a moderate price and chose this model. It looks nice in our eating area, has a blue light which goes on when door open for seeing but also to let you know if not closed, great storage, easy to use and cools bottles well.

There is a brand new one of these in my new apartment. It is ridiculously loud. Makes an annoying ringing sound like a dentist's drill. The noise fluctuates to so it's not even something you can get used to (not that you would want to). I've shut it off and used it for storage.
Even if it was quiet there are other issues like spacing of the shelves. Makes it impossible to store anything that's a little fatter than a standard wine bottle. So it can't even store champagne. Honestly it is a complete waste of kitchen space.

This wine fridge looks nice and is a good addition to my home. It can be quieter. It was going to be stand-alone in my place, but I'm now looking at making it a built-in to hopefully cut down on a little of the compressor chatter. I would recommend more if you are putting this under counter or if this is in divided up floorplan where there is wall isolation. I would not recommend if it is going to be standalone and/or if you have an open floor plan as you will probably not like the compressor noise: it is louder than my kitchen refrigerator and even the cheapo mini-fridge in my office.

I would probably go 5 for 5 on this one but for it only having one climate zone. If 2 zones then easy 5 of 5. It really does look great in my modern high end kitchen. The climate control is very good for one zone. The unit runs very quite, which surprised me based on prior units from other makers. Excellent product for the price point.

We just moved into a new home where this item was installed and have thus far been impressed. For starters it is almost silent. Since our kitchen and living room are so close together I thought the noise was going to be a issue but it is fantastic. I also like the style and looks. I like the blue light they sued for the interior but wish it had more light fixtures on the side to help with illumination.

This was builder supplied in our new custom home and we have been very disappointed. The compressor is very loud. We have had two service people come out and tell us that is just the way it works and then told by the salesperson for Whirlpool the same thing. We had a GE in our other house and it never made any noise. We are having this replaced this week with a different brand.

We say this appliance in the model home and liked the look of the appliance and in particular the blue back lighting. Since moving into our new home, numerous friends and family members have commented on how attractive the appliance is. At first, I was not sure how convenient it would be to place or remove bottles, but have found it very easy. Good design!

...and the replacement is failing...

I submitted a review two months ago after my wine fridge compressor died. Whirlpool replaced it under warranty but now the new unit, 6 weeks later, is losing cooling power (I have the thermostat set two degrees cooler than my target temp) and the compressor is making a cyclic grinding noise. I'm waiting to hear back from the appliance shop about what they are going to do. I can accept that I may have gotten one rotten apple but two in a row?

Woke us up in the middle of a night when it wouldn't stop beeping even though door stays shut. Unit stop cooling. Warranty service is horrible, the servicemen doesn't know what is wrong with the unit, second guessing the fixes and it's still sitting duck.Very disappointed, will never buy another Whirlpool appliance.

The compressor quit working after a few months. The compressor was annoyingly loud (when it was working) - maybe the new one will be quieter. It is under warranty and Whirlpool said they will replace it but it is taking several weeks. I wonder if they will replace the wine that is damaged. The pullout drawers catch on the door (tearing the rubber seal) if it is not opened fully (beyond 90 degrees). Fat bottles (chardonnay, pinot noir, champagne, etc.) do not fit. Well, they do but the labels get shredded every time you pull out the shelf above, and you have to lift the shelves up to slide them in and out, and you can't put another bottle next to a fat one, so....

I've had it a week. Seems good in most ways but fat bottles scrape when the drawer is opened. I need to lift the shelf above to pull out the lower shelf. Many bottles of chardonnay are fat at the base, as well as champaign. It's not adjustable. Kind of a pain. You could just put fat bottles on the lowest shelf but in my case, there's too many. I use this unit exclusively for white wines, many of which are fat bottles. Shelves are sturdy and hold bottles well. Unit is quiet.

After extensive research to find the best quality to fit my budget under $1000 (looked a numerous models under $750 and read many reviews and this price point appeared to offer best quality). I purchased this wine cooler in July 2016. It runs very quietly and maintains the single zone temperature well. I use it to store bottles of beer and wine, however, champagne and "wider" bottles don't fit well and shelves with these bottles don't slide well and can't be adjusted. Aside from that , very pleased with purchase

Very tight fit in a 24" wide opening - should have built the space 1/4 wider. Not much excess room on the height either. Seems to work good (only been installed for about 3 weeks) but need to make sure you open the door all the way or the pull-out shelves hit the gasket and could damage it. We fit as much wine as we need to.
